About Kozani Skatepark
Kozani Skatepark is located in Kouri Park in Kozani, the capital of West Macedonia and one of Greece's coldest cities. Built in 2017, the park has street features in a park setting. Kozani sits on a plateau at over 700 meters elevation, meaning it gets genuine winters with snow and sub-zero temperatures - very different from the Greek island stereotype. The city is known for its saffron production (the only place in Greece that grows it) and its industrial heritage from the nearby lignite mines. The skatepark serves a city whose youth scene has limited options, making it an important community resource. The Kouri Park area provides green space in the city center, and there are cafes along the main square nearby. Sessions are largely limited to the warmer months, but spring and fall skating in the mountain air is refreshing.
