About Chalkida Skatepark
Chalkida Skatepark is located in Vourkos Park in Chalkida, the capital of Euboea, Greece's second-largest island connected to the mainland by a bridge over the famous Euripus Strait with its reversing tidal currents. Built in 2015, the outdoor park has a solid set of street features in a park setting. Chalkida is close enough to Athens (about an hour's drive) that it draws some visiting skaters on weekends, but it primarily serves the local Euboean community. The strait with its bizarre tidal phenomenon is a unique natural feature - the water changes direction roughly every six hours, something that puzzled even Aristotle. The park is well-positioned near the waterfront area, and the city has a nice mix of ancient Greek and Ottoman heritage. The concrete is standard quality and the features handle well for street-style skating.
