About Rovaniemi Skatepark
Rovaniemi Skatepark is near the Jätkänkynttilä (Lumberjack's Candle) bridge in Rovaniemi, the official hometown of Santa Claus and the capital of Finnish Lapland, sitting right on the Arctic Circle. The park has ledges, flat bars, banks, and a quarterpipe. Rovaniemi was almost completely destroyed during WWII and rebuilt according to an Alvar Aalto master plan - the town center is designed in the shape of reindeer antlers when viewed from above. The Santa Claus Village at the Arctic Circle is the main tourist draw, and the Arktikum museum tells the story of Arctic life. Northern Lights in winter and midnight sun in summer make this a unique skating destination. The outdoor season is short but the Arctic light is magical.
