In the western Bohemian countryside between Plzeň and Domažlice, Holýšov's skatepark serves this small Chodsko-region town. The park features a mini ramp, ledges, a flat rail, and a quarter pipe. The Chodsko region has a distinctive folk culture - the Chodové people historically guarded the Bohemian border - celebrated in the annual Chodské slavnosti festival in nearby Domažlice. The surrounding countryside is rolling and forested, typical of western Bohemia. Local riders are few but appreciative of their facility. The town has basic amenities, and the proximity to Plzeň means access to the bigger city's resources. The Bavarian border is just a few kilometers west, and the cross-border cycling trails are excellent.
