About Skatepark Moravia
Skatepark Moravia was inaugurated on March 3, 2019, built by the Moravia Municipality under Mayor Roberto Zoch Gutiérrez. It was the first effort by the municipality to build a dedicated space for skateboarding and BMX, addressing sports that had previously been excluded from public spaces in the canton. The park is integrated into the Parque Central de San Vicente in Moravia's main district, northeast of downtown San José. It features a competition-grade bowl as the centerpiece, along with a speed bump, quarter pipe, manual pad, ledges, and banks. The design was built to high quality standards, and notably, no trees in the existing park were cut down during construction - instead, the layout was planned to plant additional trees and maintain greener space. The grand opening celebration included skating competitions in four categories (beginners, intermediate, advanced, and best trick in the bowl), along with DJ sets, a Danish gymnastics show, Zumba, skateboarding lessons, a concert, food vendors, and inflatable attractions.
