About Santa Teresa Skatepark
Santa Teresa Skatepark is a community-built concrete park in the famous Pacific coast surf town of Santa Teresa on the Nicoya Peninsula. Located 20 meters west of the community soccer field, the park was built through local volunteer effort to provide a free public space where people can skate. The layout is a back-and-forth run design with three ramps at varying heights for drop-ins. One ramp has an additional bump at the bottom, the middle ramp builds speed before rolling into a half-open bowl, and the third leads to flat ground and another ramp at the opposite end. Features include a speed bump, box, quarter pipe, funbox, handrail, flat rail, ledge, and bank. There's flat ground for beginners, an accessible half-bowl for intermediates, and elevated drop-in points for experienced riders. Santa Teresa's strong surf-skate crossover culture means many surf instructors use the park for balance training. Best visited early morning (6-7 AM) to avoid heat and crowds. Volunteers maintain and clean the park. Note that there are also two private skateparks in town: the Pacifica Surf Hotel park (covered bowls, $10 entry) and Thomas Ritchie's private park with a pump track (free with permission).
