About Skateistan Cambodia
Skateistan Cambodia is an award-winning indoor skate school located inside Factory Phnom Penh, a creative hub built on a former 3.4-hectare Levi's garment factory south of the city center. Operated by Skateistan, the international non-profit founded in 2007 by Australian Oliver Percovich, the facility features 500 square meters of skatepark space packed with banks, ramps, quarter pipes, rails, a mini ramp, and professionally built concrete features constructed by New Line Skateparks of Canada. The overall facility was designed by Atelier Cole architects with input from local staff and the skate community. Skateistan Cambodia runs free sports and non-formal education programs for children aged 5 to 17, with a strong focus on girls, students from low-income backgrounds, and children with disabilities. Programs include weekly skateboarding classes paired with arts-based education covering human rights, cultural studies, nutrition, and the environment, as well as library access and youth leadership development. The park is open to the public on weekends and select evenings at no charge. Since beginning operations in Phnom Penh in 2011 and relocating to this purpose-built facility in February 2018, Skateistan Cambodia has served over 240 active students and played a foundational role in growing the country's skateboarding culture. Tony Hawk and Olympic medalist Sky Brown have both visited and skated the park.
