About Pernik Skatepark
Pernik's skatepark serves this Sofia-satellite mining city best known for the Surva International Festival of Masquerade Games - the January festival of kukeri (costumed performers driving away evil spirits) is Bulgaria's most spectacular folk tradition and a UNESCO Intangible Heritage event. The concrete park features ledges, banks, quarter pipes, manual pads, and flat bars. Pernik's coal-mining heritage shaped the city's working-class identity, and the medieval Krakra Fortress on the hill above preserves earlier history. The park draws riders from the Pernik-Sofia corridor. The food is western Bulgarian - hearty miners' fare, banitsa, grilled meats, and the strong coffee that's a Bulgarian daily ritual.
