# Kentucky ranks No. 40 in the nation for public skateparks per resident, Skatedex finds

LEXINGTON, Sept. 16, 2026 -- Kentucky has 0.41 public skateparks for every 100,000 residents, ranking No. 40 of 50 states in the 2026 Skateparks per Capita rankings released today by Skatedex, the largest skatepark directory on the web.

The rankings count 19 public, open skateparks in Kentucky against the Census Bureau's latest population estimate of 4,606,864. That is below the national rate of 0.77 parks per 100,000 residents.

Within the state, the leading cities are Lexington (0.6 per 100,000), Louisville (0.2 per 100,000).

Neighboring West Virginia, the highest-ranked state next door, is No. 17 with 1.25 parks per 100,000 residents.
